Supporting local students
Our aim is to help equip students to achieve their potential and promote careers in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). We attend a wide range of education activities that supported careers, provision and the STEM curriculum, engaging thousands of students in the process. We have engaged 15,000 students since 2021.
In 2023 we launched Achieve, our ambitious education programme which aims to support young people in our project area to achieve their potential, with a particular focus on disadvantaged students. This is being funded in partnership with the Woodsmith Foundation.
Following extensive research and preparation, our three-year pilot programme will focus on supporting the personal, cultural, and academic development of young people from six target secondary schools in the area: Outwood Academy and St Peter's schools in Redcar, Eskdale and Caedmon in Whitby and Scalby and George Pinder schools in Scarborough.
Achieve will support pupils to have access to professional mentors, extracurricular activities, and personal, social, and emotional development. In addition we will support continuing professional development and whole-school improvement to all 18 schools in our project area – spanning from Redcar to Filey.
