Planning amendments
Over the last two years, we have undertaken a detailed technical review of the Woodsmith Project. This has identified enhancements to the engineering design that will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the project for the long-term.
Following a public consultation from October to December 2025, we have submitted a planning application which is focused on the amendments to the current approved development at Woodsmith Mine, and our sites at Ladycross Plantation, Lockwood Beck and Tocketts Lythe.
As the application proposals cross the administrative boundaries of both the North York Moors National Park Authority (NYMNPA) and Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council (RCBC), the application has been submitted to both planning authorities.
You see an overview of the application here, as well links to the full application on planning authorities’ websites and details on how to submit your comments.
We are also holding three community drop-in events if you would like to find out more about the application.
