DCO Amendment

12:01 AM, 11 February, 2022

We have made an application to the Secretary of State for Transport to make a non-material amendment to the Development Consent Order (DCO) for our harbour facilities (The York Potash Harbour Facilities Order 2016 S.I. 2016 No. 772).

The DCO covers the development of harbour facilities at Bran Sands and an overland conveyor that will transport our finished product (POLY4) from our materials handling facility at Wilton International.

The details of the changes to the DCO that we are seeking to make are set out in the documents that can be accessed using the links at the bottom of the page, and summarised below.

As the DCO currently stands, full detailed plans of the harbour AND the overland conveyor must be submitted and approved before we can start construction of the harbour.

The amendment to the DCO that we are seeking is to allow for the works at the harbour to be approved, and for construction to be able to commence, without waiting for the overland conveyor details to be finalised. This is because the detailed design of the overland conveyor is currently being optimised and the harbour will take longer than the overland conveyor to construct.

The DCO also includes highways works on the A1085 roundabout to facilitate construction traffic related to the overland conveyor. We are seeking an additional amendment to enable us to start construction on the harbour in advance of undertaking the roundabout works (as these relate to overland conveyor construction traffic only).

For any queries in relation to the application documents please contact us by emailing [email protected] or calling 0330 0886583.

Please send any representations about the application by email to the Secretary of State c/o the Planning Inspectorate at [email protected] or in writing to: National Infrastructure, The Planning Inspectorate, Temple Quay House, Temple Quay, Bristol, BS1 6PN.  Please quote reference TR030002. To ensure submissions are dealt with promptly, please use email where possible. Due to limited numbers of staff in the Planning Inspectorate office at this time, any submissions sent by post may be subject to delay.

Representations will be made public by being published on the Planning Inspectorate’s website at: https://infrastructure.planninginspectorate.gov.uk.

Please note that the deadline for the receipt of representations by the Planning Inspectorate is 11:59pm on Monday 21 March 2022.
