About the apprenticeships

Our Cyber Security Apprenticeship is exciting and demanding - combining working and studying at the same time, learning the most advanced cyber security tools available. Our Cyber Apprentices work alongside experienced cyber professionals to build their knowledge and skills.

Our apprentices study for a nationally recognised qualification and gain hands-on experience with the latest security technologies available in industry to prepare them for a career in cyber security.

It is an exciting, comprehensive apprenticeship programme which focuses on developing sound knowledge of cyber security tools, network intrusions, penetration testing, threat intelligence and how to identify and protect against cyber threats.

The two-year course will combine working with Anglo American’s Information Management (IM) department to develop practical skills, alongside studies to gain a Level 4 qualification.

The programme prepares candidates for roles including Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst, Security Operations Analyst and Cyber Security GRC Analyst.

Mentoring

All our Cyber Security Apprentices are paired up with an experienced member of our global team to help guide them through their course and support their development.

Gemma Kerry, who is mentored by Cyber Intelligence Specialist Jamie Butcher, said: “The mentoring programme helped me to settle in to Anglo American, having Jamie there to support and ask any questions is a really great way to feel integrated with the team.

"He shares his perspective and knowledge, which makes learning more enjoyable and rewarding. We’ve also worked on my personal development, Jamie has helped me to set goals and meet them.”
